In finance, “deal flow” refers to the rate at which business and investment proposals are received. By showcasing organizations and opportunities that produce financial returns alongside positive social or environmental outcomes, this event aims to increase deal flow of impact investments.

Vetted and coached organizations will present their models of socially or environmentally beneficial products or services to a panel of experts and audience members. While there will not be a final “winner” or financial awards, there will be an opportunity for investors and philanthropists to connect with potential investee organizations. Among the criteria to be evaluated are the strength of the presenting team, the value proposition, business model, governance, and validation of the model.

Event Objectives

  • Provide coaching and information about impact investment financing for mission-driven organizations (nonprofits and social enterprises) in San Diego County.
  • Increase deal flow for seeking vetted, mission-driven investment opportunities.
  • Work with investors—individuals, foundations, companies, and others—to make impact investing easier by providing opportunities, intermediaries, and sample investment agreements.

For this inaugural pilot event, the 5-6 presenting organizations have been recommended by members of San Diego Impact Investors (SDii) based on a predetermined set of criteria. Future Deal Flow events will include a public call for applications from potential presenters.

Designed For
Anyone in San Diego County interested in building the market for impact investing in San Diego is encouraged to attend, including individual philanthropists and investors, grantmakers, foundations, corporations, nonprofits, and social enterprises. We respectfully request that attendees refrain from engaging in fundraising and other development activities at this event.

Please register by Monday, April 25, through this linkThis event is free for all staff, trustees, and donors of SDG member organizations and $75/person for all others.
