As we head into this holiday season and end of the year it is a time to both reflect and plan for the future. San Diego Impact Investors (SDii) has worked hard over the past year and has grand plans for 2016. I would like to take this opportunity to send heartfelt gratitude to all of those who have participated in, informed and learned with our community.
SDii has grown this year from a seedling of an idea to a viable, committed group that is preparing to launch into action. At the beginning of this year there were a lot of very disconnected efforts throughout San Diego around Impact Investing. We have met with people across the city and county, across different sectors and issue areas and playing myriad roles in developing the ecosystem around Impact Investing. Nationally, we have seen impact investing grow by leaps and bounds. Here in San Diego we are tracking that growth and bringing together efforts to build on each other, learn from one another and develop a local pipeline of ready deals and savvy investors. 2015 has been about building, connecting and learning for the SDii community.
As we head into the New Year we have two exciting announcements. The first is that we are officially collaborating with San Diego Grantmakers to continue this work. San Diego Grantmakers will bring its experience and resources to support collaboration around impact investing locally. This is a win-win for all parties, given that San Diego Grantmakers is interested in expanding its membership base and remaining at the forefront of innovation in philanthropy. The second announcement is that we will be launching Deal Flow, a series of events to showcase vetted organizations and investment opportunities. Stay tuned for more details and how you can get involved with these events and many other opportunities in the coming year.
Expect to hear much more from us in 2016 as we ramp up our efforts on Pay for Success, Loan Funds, educating investors, advisors and wealth managers and supporting readiness for potential investees. We look forward to working with all parties to build a strong ecosystem around impact investing in San Diego and bringing new investment in to positively impact our community.
